Globus Family Expands Exotic Vacations

The Globus family of brands announced new 2008 tour offerings to China, South and Central America and the South Pacific. Globus has experienced a 26 percent increase in bookings to these regions over last year, and a 35 percent increase in China bookings. Globus added nine new vacations to the South Pacific, nine to South and Central America and five to China/Asia in 2008. Globus is offering two limited-time deals to exotic hot spot getaways. Travelers who book a 2008 Globus, Monograms or Avalon South America or Asia air-inclusive vacation before Oct. 31, 2007 will receive $400 off per couple. Travelers who book a 2008 Globus Down Under Discovery air-inclusive vacation Aug. 15 to Sept. 30, 2007 will save $1,000 off per couple. New offerings for 2008 include Chinese New Year in Hong Kong – Globus (six days); new Patagonia Adventure: Journey to the End of the World – Globus (13 days); a new Ecuador and the Galapagos package on Avalon Waterways, an 11-day cruise; and the new Journey Down Under from Monograms, a 10-day.

Families will find new ways to vacation with Disney in 2007 through an expanded selection of 12 Adventures by Disney experiences, including eight new itineraries. Adventures by Disney offers families vacation packages to destinations in 2007, including new excursions in the United States, Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain and Italy. Returning itineraries are to England and France, Costa Rica, Italy and Wyoming. The 2007 trip lineup boasts features exclusive to Adventures by Disney, including: an Art Detective activity for Junior Adventurers in the Louvre Museum in Paris and dinner with Ben Franklin.

Trafalgar Tours has introduced three new “Family Experience” tours within the U.S. this year. The tours include the services of tour guides who are adept at turning learning into fun, according to the company. The 10-day “Southern California Vacation” itinerary includes San Diego, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, from $1,850 per person, double, land only. The eight-day “Canyon & Parks Adventure” includes Colorado River rafting and the Grand Canyon, from $1,525. The eight-day “Wild West Cowboys & Buffalos (Denver)” tour travels the Oregon Trail and includes the evening lighting at Mount Rushmore, from $1,465.

“Family Experience” tours also include the 11-day “Footprints of the Southwest,” itinerary, which combines visits to cities such as Albuquerque and Santa Fe with wonders such as the Grand Canyon, priced from $1,810 per person, double, land only. The seven-day “Canada’s Rockies” tour visits the most breathtaking parts of the Rockies and includes a gondola ride to the mountaintop Interpretive Center, from $1,435. The eight-day “An English Christmas,” tour focuses on London and includes day trips to Stratford-Upon-Avon and Stonehenge, from $935.

According to Trafalgar, families can save as much as 40 percent off the cost of the same vacation were they to plan it themselves. Additionally, Trafalgar’s “Young Traveler” tour offers parents or grandparents of children ages 5-17 a 10 percent discount on the land portion. Trafalgar can also arrange personalized tours for families using its buying power to negotiate prices. Another form of Trafalgar savings is the “Travel with Friends” program that applies to friends or families in groups of five or more.
