The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort is on schedule to open in May 2008. The 337-room resort will be located directly on a dedicated four-mile stretch of white sand beach in Punta Macao, Dominican Republic. In addition to offering more beachfront than any other resort in the region, The Westin Roco Ki Beach & Golf Resort is housed on a 2,700-acre property. THE HILTON LOS CABOS Beach & Golf Resort added several free amenities to its poolside services. Guests lounging by the pool will be able to request fresh fruit kabobs in the morning, cool themselves with chilled aromatherapy hand towels or chilled Evian spray bottles midday or quench their thirst with frozen iced treats in the early evening. Guests also can rent an iPod and check out books and magazines, also for free. The amenities are available from the resort’s poolside concierge.

PALACE RESORTS launched new wedding packages, including a free wedding package at select resorts and a Blessing of the Mayan Gods package at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun and the Aventura Spa Palace in the Riviera Maya. The latter costs $1,000 and includes a beach ceremony that embraces local Mayan traditions. Meanwhile, the free wedding package is available to couples who stay at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun, Aventura Spa Palace in the Riviera Maya, Playacar Palace in Playa del Carmen and Vallarta Palace in Nuevo Vallarta. UNITED VACATIONS launched a Sizzling Summer Savings promotion, offering up to 40% off air-hotel packages purchased by July 15. The promotion is in effect for travel through Dec. 15. A sample package to Cancun from Denver costs $949 per person, double (down from $1,499), for seven nights at the all-inclusive Gran Caribe Real Cancun. All packages include roundtrip air fare on United Airlines and hotel accommodations.

THE CASAMAGNA MARRIOTT PUERTO VALLARTA Resort and Spa is extending its Passport to Paradise promotion through Dec. 15. Under the promotion, guests who present a new passport showing Puerto Vallarta as the first port of entry in Mexico will receive a $100 resort credit. Walt Disney World to Ban Smoking in Onsite Hotels

Walt Disney World reportedly will ban smoking effective June 1 in 20 onsite properties, including all guest rooms, indoor public areas, balconies and other locations at all company-owned and -operated hotels. It will also ban smoking at all Disney Vacation Club resorts at Disney World. Smoking will be allowed in designated, outdoor smoking areas only. Walt Disney Parks & Resorts banned smoking at Disneyland’s three hotels in California last year but allowed smoking to continue at Disney World hotels. During the last five years, guest demand for smoking rooms at the Walt Disney World Resort reportedly has been declining steadily. Currently, less than 3.5 percent of Walt Disney World’s 24,000 resort rooms are smoking optional.

Kids can choose their own ice cream bath fizz of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, with toppings of caramel, marshmallow and hot fudge for the foot mask, and final touch of nail polish. SuperClubs unveiled plans for a 203-room hotel in Sergipe, Brazil’s smallest state on the Atlantic’s northeast coast. Starfish Santa Luzia is located on the estuary island of Santa Luzia. As SuperClubs’ first Starfish in Brazil, following the launch of this affiliate brand in 2002 with Starfish Trelawny in Jamaica, this family-friendly all-inclusive resort is slated to open its doors in late 2007. It will feature three restaurants, including Italian, Japanese and Continental dining, an intimate spa and a vibrant Kids Center. The newly renamed Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas will celebrate its official Grand Opening on Sept. 28 and 29, according to Robert Earl, co-chairman of the property. Earl made his announcement on Tuesday, when the hotel officially shed its previous moniker as the Aladdin Hotel and Casino. He was joined by celebrities such as Bruce Willis, Carmen Electra and baseball great Roger Clemens. After a $1 billion renovation, the property is positioning itself as strong competition for the clientele of stylish and hip neighboring properties such as the Wynn Las Vegas and The Palms. Besides already completed renovations such as the floor-to-ceiling Swarovski crystal chandeliers in the hotel lobby and the 5,000 Panasonic high-definition plasma TVs that adorn public areas and guest rooms, new amenities such as Koi restaurant and Prive nightclub are set to open at the property this year. In addition to the 2,600 guest rooms that are designed with movie photos and memorabilia, three suites will be decorated in the name of legendary sports figures Roger Clemens, Pete Sampras and Sugar Ray Leonard. The hotel will remain open throughout the rest of the renovation.
