Mexico’s Presidente InterContinental Sets Water Packages

Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is inviting guests to “Swim with the Fishes” with a series of dolphin and water expedition packages available at hotels in Cozumel, Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta. The Cozumel property’s offer includes a three-night stay in an ocean suite; an hour-long dolphin swim experience at Chankanaab Park; transportation and admission to Chankanaab Park; and daily buffet breakfast. Rates start at $1,377 per room, based on double occupancy. The Cancun hotel’s package also features a three-night stay in an ocean view room, as well as a dolphin swim for two, use of one waverunner jet ski for 30 minutes, one Limoncello Italian liqueur drink per person, and 15 percent off at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Alfredo Di Roma restaurant. Rates start at $1,017 per room, based on double occupancy. Similar packages are also available at the Presidente InterContinental Puerto Vallarta and the Presidente InterContinental Los Cabos All-Inclusive Resort.

MSC Lirica Receives 98 on Health Inspection

MSC Cruises has once again scored a high ratings from the U.S. Public Health (USPH). The MSC Lirica received a “superior” score in its most recent inspection. MSC Lirica earned a score of 98 out of a possible 100 on its March 8 USPH inspection in San Juan. This comes less than a month after MSC Opera received a score of 99 out of 100. Both ships have consistently earned “superior” scores on USPH inspections since arriving in North American waters. As part of the voluntary inspection program, the CDC reviews the levels of sanitation on all passenger cruise ships arriving at U.S. ports. Ships are rated on whether the following items meet CDC standards: water, food preparation and holding, potential contamination of food, and general cleanliness, storage and repair. A score of 86 or higher is considered “Satisfactory.”

Royal Caribbean Deploys Seven Ships to Europe

Royal Caribbean International announced its largest deployment in Europe with seven ships visiting the continent in 2008, including year-round cruises from Barcelona by Brilliance of the Seas. The line will offer four- to 14-night cruises on the new Independence of the Seas, the first Freedom-class ship in the region; two Voyager-class ships, Navigator of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas; and Brilliance of the Seas, Jewel of the Seas, Legend of the Seas and Splendour of the Seas. Bookings for Royal Caribbean’s 2008 Europe cruises will open on March 14.

The Independence of the Seas will embark on its maiden voyage in mid-May 2008, offering 14-night Western Mediterranean sailings from Southampton, England, to the Spanish, French and Italian Riviera. Independence also offers travelers four voyages to the Canary Islands on 10- and 11-night itineraries. From Harwich, England, the Jewel of the Seas will operate 11- to 13-night voyages to the Norway and the Baltic. The Jewel also will sail a series of three- and four-night North Sea cruises departing from such ports as Amsterdam, Holland; Oslo, Norway; and Hamburg, Germany. The short cruises offer one call per sailing to places such as Copenhagen and Brussels. Navigator of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Brilliance of the Seas will sail from Barcelona, Spain on four- to 12-night itineraries throughout the Mediterranean. In addition, Navigator also offers a series of 10- to 12-night sailings from Barcelona to the Eastern Mediterranean, Greece and Turkey. On certain sailings, guests will make an overnight call at Istanbul, Turkey to explore this gateway to the East.

In July, Navigator will embark on seven-night voyages from Rome (Civitavecchia) to the Eastern Mediterranean. The Voyager follows the French Riviera to Sicily, Italy on weekly seven-night sailings from Barcelona through November. Being deployed year-round at Barcelona, Brilliance of the Seas offers 10- and 12-night sailings that combine popular Italian port cities with the Greek Isles, or with the Dalmatian Coast. On the voyages through the Adriatic, guests also will enjoy a two-day call at Venice. From Venice, Splendour of the Seas alternates six- to eight-night roundtrips to Turkey and Greece, and Greek Isles voyages. Legend of the Seas alternates between 12-night Greece and Eastern Mediterranean and 13-night Italy and Croatia itineraries, both roundtrip from Rome (Civitavecchia).
